 On a secluded prairie farm, adolescent boys labor in wheat fields for a sexually predatory warden and his farmhands, who threaten to feed them to a voracious beast if they ever disobey. The newly arrived Linus instantly catches the warden's eye, and begins to receive secret visitations from a mysterious girl. The other boys tell Linus the legend of a special boy who fled the farm and became a glorious angel that will one day return to free them all. When Linus asks the girl if she is the angel, her answer is enigmatic. After the warden's favorite boy dies, Linus is poised to become the next victim. The girl reappears and promises to help him escape, but with hope comes punishment.

Madicken is a fictional character created by the Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Madicken appeared in 6 books, two movies—Du ar inte klok Madicken (1979) (You're out of your mind, Madicken) and Madicken pa Junibacken (1980) (Madicken at June Hill)—and a TV Series (1979). Du ar inte klok Madicken is about a 7-year-old girl from Sweden, during World War I. The follow-up movie Madicken pa Junibacken from 1980 is edited from various episodes of the TV production "Madicken" which screened in 1980. However, the events of the first film are set after the second film. Her full name is Margareta Engstrom, but the only time anyone uses it is when admonishing her. Her mother is a housewife - they have a maid who does the work around the house—and her father is the editor-in-chief of the local newspaper.

The actress, Jonna Liljendahl (born 6 November 1970, Stockholm, Sweden), featured in the TV episodes as well as the subsequent movies.

The scenes when they're in a city is filmed in Soderkoping and the house "Junibacken" is Jarsta Gard not so far from Uppsala.

The movies have been released with Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic, Finnish and German dialogue.

Hounddog is a 2007 coming-of-age drama film written, directed, and produced by Deborah Kampmeier and starring Dakota Fanning, Isabelle Fuhrman, Robin Wright Penn, and Piper Laurie, among others. It is also Isabelle Fuhrman's debut film. Penn also serves as an executive producer. The film was produced by Raye Dowell, Jen Gatien, and Terry Leonard. It premiered in competition at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, and was given a limited release in 11 North American theaters on September 19, 2008.
Shot near Wilmington, North Carolina and taking place in the late 1950s rural Alabama, the film stars Fanning as Lewellen, "a troubled 12-year-old girl who finds solace from an abusive life through music of Elvis Presley."
The film was panned by critics, due in part to a controversial scene in which Fanning's character is raped. The film was also a box office failure, grossing only $131,961, against an estimated $3.75 million production budget.

 Mario and his brother Alonso become committed to fishing in a coral-reef in the southern Philippines. With many other children of different origin they work for starvation wages on the ship of unscrupulous captain Murène. Together they drive shoals of fish into a big fish trap having to use the dangerous muro-ami technique in the coral-reefs. Fastened to a stone, the little divers jump into the water to reach the depth faster. Without any equipment they dive down 30 meters. The brutal captain treats the exhausted children like slaves. After little Boï is fatally wounded by a swordfish, the situation on the ship gets out of hand. When the boys get to know that the captain has killed Alonso and the fishing company had refused payment and the frequently mentioned bonuses, a bloody mutiny breaks out on the ship which drifts uncontrolled on the ocean. A group of boys leaves the ship in a boat. The little deep-sea divers are left to themselves, are found after a long time and, finally...

Chlapci nejprve složí krví spečetěnou přísahu, potom si rozdělí hodnosti a nakonec začnou s pečlivými přípravami. Shromažďují zásoby jídla a vše, co budou k výpravě potřebovat. Vyrazit by chtěli prvního srpna ráno, ale protože rodiče nemají pro jejich hru pochopení, staví malým námořníkům do cesty neustále nové a nové překážky. K rozkolu však dochází i v samotné partě cestovatelů, do které je přijata i slovenská holčička Katarína... Jak dopadne soupeření mezi kapitánem Jakubem a prvním důstojníkem Bohoušem uvidíme v dětském filmu o všedních starostech a o touze po dobrodružství, který podle námětu Ireny Dobrovolné natočil režisér Zdeněk Flídr.

CZ. Film zasiahnutý "normalizáciou" mal pohnutý osud. Od verzie, dokončenej talianskym koproducentom sa autor v r. 1972 dištancoval, po rokoch sa v nových podmienkach k dávnemu projektu vrátil, výrazne ho prepracoval, dokrútil niekoľko sekvencií, zmenil dialógy. Bizarná feéria s prvkami čierneho humoru v charakteristickom prebujnelom štýle je rámcovaná symbolickou ideovou rovinou, značne poplatnou revolučnej súčasnosti.
Skupinka čudných ľudí sa oddáva hrám na akomsi vidieckom sídle. Živočíšne scény sú sprevádzané úvahami o smrti, "filozofickými" meditáciami, surrealistickými motívmi i narážkami na národnú tému. To všetko sa rozvíja v retrospektíve: svet je postihnutý katastrofou, z ktorej sa má ľudstvo zachrániť v arche. Hrdinovia sa odmietnu podriadiť krutému diktátu terorizujúcich "záchrancov", vyvolajú revolúciu a odchádzajú tam, odkiaľ nedávno prišli. Tajomná špirála večného ľudského boja sa dostáva do ďalšieho bodu... Bohatá obraznosť (Jakubisko tentoraz aj kameramanom) nenachádza odraz v proklamovanej závažnosti "výpovede", zamýšľaný presah sa utopil v inscenačných výstrednostiach. Zaujímavým prvkom je využitie zostarnutých hercov v dokrútkach.
EN. As a car full of an assortment of characters rolls down an embankment and bursts into flames, the old driver says "See You in Hell, Friends." The relations between the characters are shown in flashbacks. The pretty Rita and her fiancee Petras meet the old colonel, and come to live in his farmhouse. Rita marries the colonel as well as her fiancee, and has a daughter Christine. The colonel's supposed father shows up, and also makes amorous advances on Rita. They all live blissfully together until two holy women with axes arrive. The women start chopping down trees to build an ark. Rita starts having nightmares and Christine is crucified.

Filmen er samtidig et godt billede på, hvor stor betydning den første forelskelse har, og hvor langt man vil gå for at holde fast i den.

Umhlanga Reed Dance Ceremony, Swaziland. 2012.

 Umhlanga, or Reed Dance ceremony, is an annual Swazi and Zulu tradition held in August or September. Tens of thousands of unmarried and childless Swazi/Zulu girls and women travel from their villages to participate in the eight-day event. In Swaziland they gather at the Queen Mother's royal village, which currently is Ludzidzini Royal Village, while Nongoma is the site of the royal reed dance in Zululand. After arriving at the Queen Mother's royal residence, or Enyokeni Palace in Zululand, the women disperse the following night to surrounding areas and cut tall reeds. The following night they bundle them together and bring them back to the Queen Mother to be used in repairing holes in the reed windscreen surrounding the royal village. After a day of rest and washing the women prepare their traditional costumes consisting of a bead necklace, rattling anklets made from cocoons, a sash, and skirt. Many of them carry the bush knife they used to cut the reeds as a symbol of their virginity.

A young girl is forced to leave her friends in the city because her mother gets a job in the countryside. But the director spoils what could have been a good movie by focusing way to much on her young actress' body. What is for example the point in the scene from the girls locker room? And do we have to see every time Tanja changes her clothes? It's a film, not Big Brother. There are also several other scenes that could have been done a lot better."©

 Xiaobo and Yangjin are to spend the school holidays with their families in the countryside. Driving out of the city feels like going back in time. There’s hardly any traffic, only an antiquated bus that bumps along the unpaved road and a motorbike with a cargo rack that serves as a shared taxi. They may be the best of friends but Xiaobo and Yangjin are very different. One of them is tall, the other small. One knows everything you need to know at school and the other is the worst pupil in the whole class. But they are both equally cheeky. Xiabo loves to tell stories, like the one about the huge fish that bit his finger or the other about thousands of crabs he saw on the riverbank. Who knows if they’re true or the product of his lively imagination? His stories are animated and woven into the film, as are the other protagonists’ fantasies. Instead of going straight to his grandmother as he should, Yangjin first goes home with Xiaobo. Xiaobo’s father is strict and Xiaobo is only too glad to have his friend with him. Every day, Yangjin plans to go home, but every day he ends up staying on at Xiaobo’s place. And no wonder: the things they get up to just get better and better.
